We built Speak To Me around one principle: you deserve a safe space to be heard without giving up who you are. This policy explains exactly what we collect, what we don't, and why.
Effective date: June 15, 2026 · Version 1.0Speak To Me ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by Speak To Me LLC, a mental health peer support platform accessible at speak.support and app.speak.support. We provide anonymous peer-to-peer support chat rooms, a self-help library, mood tracking tools, and veteran-specific resources.
If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].
This is not just a feature — it is the foundation of everything we build. People share more honestly, seek help more readily, and support each other more openly when they are not afraid of being identified. We will never compromise this.
We collect only what is necessary to provide the service. Here is a complete breakdown:
| Data | Why we collect it | How long we keep it |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous user ID | Generated automatically to maintain your session and alias across visits | Until you clear your browser data |
| Your chosen alias | To identify you in chat rooms | Until you reset or it expires |
| Chat messages | To display them in the room to other participants | Session duration only — not persisted long-term |
| Mood check-in scores | To show you your personal mood history sparkline | Stored locally and optionally synced to your anonymous account |
| Crisis event flags | When AI detects crisis language, the event is logged (alias + room, no message content) for safety review | 90 days |
| Veteran verification status | To unlock veteran-only rooms and features | Permanent (linked to your anonymous ID only) |
| Waitlist email address | Only if you voluntarily sign up at speak.support — to send you a welcome email | Until you unsubscribe |
| Basic usage analytics | Room member counts, active sessions — aggregated and anonymous | 30 days rolling |
Every message sent in Speak To Me is reviewed by an AI moderation system before it is displayed. This system checks for harassment, hate speech, personal information sharing, and crisis language. It does not store your messages — it reads, evaluates, and discards.
AI moderation is context-aware. It understands that emotional expression (including strong language) is normal in peer support and will not block messages simply because they contain difficult content. Only messages that violate our community guidelines are blocked.
To access veteran-specific rooms and receive free lifetime access to premium features, veterans can optionally verify their status through ID.me, a third-party identity verification service trusted by the VA and multiple federal agencies.
ID.me's own privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy at id.me/privacy. Veteran verification is entirely optional — you can use all non-veteran features without it.
We share data with a small number of service providers who help us operate the platform:
| Provider | Purpose | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and anonymous authentication | Anonymous user IDs, aliases, mood scores, crisis flags |
| Anthropic | AI content moderation | Message text only — not stored by Anthropic after evaluation |
| Cloudflare | Hosting, CDN, Worker functions | Standard web traffic data (IP addresses not stored) |
| Resend | Transactional email (waitlist welcome only) | Email address only, if you joined the waitlist |
| Stripe | Payment processing (premium subscriptions) | Payment details — handled entirely by Stripe, never seen by us |
| ID.me | Veteran verification (optional) | Veteran status confirmation only |
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with any third party for commercial purposes. Ever.
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your data. We honor these for all users regardless of location:
Because our platform is anonymous, we cannot verify identity for data requests. To submit a request, email us from the email address associated with your waitlist signup (if applicable) or include your anonymous user ID from your app settings.
We take security seriously. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Our database uses row-level security policies to ensure users can only access their own data. API keys and secrets are stored as encrypted environment variables, never in code. We conduct regular reviews of our security practices.
No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to [email protected] before disclosing it publicly.
We will notify waitlist subscribers and post a notice in the app if we make material changes to this policy. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
